About Street Salvage
At Street Salvage we believe that far too many perfectly decent things are being sent to landfill, every day.
Often perfectly good furniture or other household goods are thrown away, not because they are completely useless – but because their owner no longer wants or needs them. Other reasons for goods being thrown away include them: being dirty; in need of minor repairs; or that they’ve become a little worn.
Throwing away useable goods is not only terribly wasteful, but it is also environmentally damaging.
We believe that we can and should make more use of discarded household items – through cleaning, repairing or upcycling them.
The content on the site is genuine and is drawn from Street Salvage’s founder’s own personal experience over the last 20 years of salvaging from the streets of South London.
This website sets out to help people who are not only thrifty but take joy in giving ‘junk’ a new lease of life.
The site explains some simple techniques for: finding, repairing and upcycling.
By way of inspiration, we show you photos from a house that is more or less fully furnished from Street Salvage – including: TV; fridge; toaster; furniture; and even a vintage G-Plan coffee table.
We hope that you enjoy the site, and please do feel free to share your own experiences of Street Salvaging.
Street Salvage is a not for profit social enterprise whose sole purpose is to reduce waste and to save people money!
